Self Contained Crochet set wth Lacewood

$100.00

This is a whole set for crocheting contained in one cylindrical container.

The outer shell and crochet handle are made from the same piece of highly figured Lacewood. I tried to match the wood to the case. To me, it felt appropriate to keep everything as matching as possible.

Twisting in a counterclockwise direction on the smaller portion of the cylinder case will open the whole case. Unfortunately, the case is not immersion proof, but it will keep things nicely contained and protected if general weather was allowed at it. The case is finished with a 5 layer finish that should be durable for normal daily use.

The handle has a collet on it that allows you to change the hook size. Simply loosen the metal collar, twist and pull the hook out. Reverse this to insert the hook.

The hooks that are included are:

Metric               US        US#     UK/Canada

3mm                                           10

3.5 mm             E           4           9

4 mm                G          6           8

4.5 mm                          7           7

5 mm                 H         8           6

5.5 mm             I            9           5

6 mm                J            10         4

7 mm                                           2

The case is  7.25 inches / 185 mm long and 7 3/8in / 36 mm wide.

The base of the handle is  3 7/8inches / 95 mm long. With one of the hooks inserted, the handle and the hooks -do- fit in the case.

As you might be able to tell, I am not a fiber artist. My wife and Daughter both have helped me get things dialed in for a comfortable and useful experience . From their suggestions, I have made the base handle longer than originally designed. The intent was to create a more comfortable grip that still fit into the case.

Unless mentioned, all the works here are made by us in our shop in Indiana. Sometimes the wood is found and repurposed, other times it’s ethically sourced from a key set of suppliers that I personally know and visit their operations.
