Steampunk pepper grinder made of Purpleheart wood

$48.99

The pepper grinder base is made from a piece of purpleheart wood. This is the natural color of the heartwood of this tree. It’s incredibly dense stuff which tests my patience when turning. However, it is one of the more popular woods when people get to see it up close. The deep purple truly looks like I’ve used some sort of chemical on it, but I think it disrespects the tree to do that sort of thing. Especially when it’s this deep a color.

The steampunk / Antique looking grinder mechanism measures 2" in diameter x 4-3/8" tall and features an Antique Copper finish, cast metal parts, and a knurled disc that adjusts for coarse to fine granules. Peppercorns are loaded through a sliding door on the body of the mechanism. The hopper holds about a quarter cup of peppercorns.

Total height is approximately 8 inches. Approximately 3 inches across at the widest point. In order to protect the mechanism, we only ship this item USPS Priority Mail.

DO NOT turn the finial on the very top of the grinder. It keeps the spring that controls the tension for the grinding adjustment in place. If you unscrew the finial, the spring will go flying, and you may never see it again.
