Pepper grinder base is turned from Bradford Pear that was from one of the many pesty trees that were planted throughout our neighborhood. When presented with the opportunity, I try to make this invasive species tree into something useful and fun. As I’m writing this up, I noticed the back of the base has a feature that reminds me of the eye of Sauron from LOTR.
The steampunk / Antique look grinder mechanism measures 2" in diameter x 4-3/8" tall and features an Antique brass finish, cast metal parts, and a knurled disc that adjusts for coarse to fine granules. Peppercorns are loaded through a sliding door on the body of the mechanism. Total height is approximately 8 inches. Approximately 3 inches across at the widest point. In order to protect the mechanism, we only ship this item USPS Priority Mail.
DO NOT turn the finial on the very top of the grinder. It keeps the spring that controls the tension for the grinding adjustment in place. If you unscrew the finial, the spring will go flying, and you may never see it again.
