I started turning this species of wood many years ago. Nature has made this wood dramatic on so many levels. The black inkiness of this piece just goes on.
This is a simple bowl that just has a lot going on with it. I would not recommend putting any level of liquid in this. There were small bug holes going through the whole piece. Every piece of tamarind that I’ve turned has these. (There are no bugs…they’ve been killed in the drying kiln.)
The bowl is 5.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall.
The bowl is finished with a multi-layer process of tung oil, shellac, lacquer, and enamel.
This would be shipped insured and very protected. (duh...like I’d want it to arrive at your side broken…that’d make me very sad because I have a lot of work in this piece and want you to enjoy the final piece as much as I enjoyed making it.)
