This shallow bowl comes from a silver maple tree that used to be across the street from us.
This comes from a cookie of wood that I have created other bowls out of. So if you see similar bowls listed here, there’s a good chance that I’ve made them from the same bit of tree.
This bowl has the wide growth rings (the tree didn’t have to fight to get access to the sun. So it got these big fat happy growth rings) and it also has the streak where an ambrosia beetle went through.
This bowl would make a great area for you to keep your keys near the door. Or it can be used for desktop items that you need to keep centralized. It’s just about the right size for keeping life organized (or in the same place).
The bowl is about 1.5inches tall and 5.5 inches across (at the top).
The bowl is finished with a multi-layer process of tung oil, shellac, lacquer, and enamel.
This would be shipped insured and very protected. (duh...like I’d want it to arrive at your side broken…that’d make me very sad because I have a lot of work in this piece and want you to enjoy the final piece as much as I enjoyed making it.)
