Ice Cream Scoop with Bradford Pear Wood Handle
Ice cream scoop with hand-turned Bradford Pear wood handle. The handle is approximately 6 inches long. The whole scoop is about 9 inches from base to tip. It’s finished with tung oil and a topcoat of durable enamel.
The stainless steel scoop unscrews from the handle for easy cleaning. The handle must be washed by hand. A trip through the dishwasher would ruin the wood.
It seems like I have an infinite amount of Bradford Pear in my supplies. This pest tree was planted very heavily throughout my neighborhood back in the day. Now when large branches are taken down, or whole tree bases are made available, I try to grab some. The tree can be useful for -something- right?
This is another piece that came from an area of a tree where there were some bark inclusions that got swallowed up by the rest of the tree to be hidden until I found it with my lathe.
The wavy comfy grip pattern helps bring those elements to the surface while giving your fingers nice places to hold that scoop while digging out ice cream that may be harder than originally thought.
