Ice cream scoop with hand-turned Purpleheart wood handle. The handle is approximately 6 inches long. The whole scoop is about 9 inches from base to tip. It’s finished with tung oil and a topcoat of durable enamel.
The stainless steel scoop unscrews from the handle for easy cleaning. The handle must be washed by hand. A trip through the dishwasher would ruin the wood.
A while back, I picked up a load of various woods from another woodworker who was downsizing properties. He had some interesting, but unlabeled woods in the stack.
