Ice cream scoop with hand-turned Scull & Crossbones SpectraPly wood handle. The handle is approximately 6 inches long. The whole scoop is about 9 inches from base to tip. It’s finished with tung oil and a topcoat of durable enamel.
The stainless steel scoop unscrews from the handle for easy cleaning. The handle must be washed by hand. A trip through the dishwasher would ruin the wood.
This black & white pattern from Spectra Ply is called Scull & Crossbones, which I get. I tend to think of this as more Addams Family related. And by keeping that in mind, when I make things with this wood I think of a character from the tv show and movies. I think I was thinking this reminded me of Uncle Fester while I turned it. Kind of plump and sturdy (like the scoop and wood) but more about being mischievous than intentionally harmful. Maybe your ice cream is like that too…
