Ice Cream Scoop with Black Locust Wood Handle
Ice cream scoop with hand-turned Locust wood handle. The handle is approximately 6 inches long. The whole scoop is about 9 inches from base to tip. It’s finished with tung oil and a topcoat of durable enamel.
The stainless steel scoop unscrews from the handle for easy cleaning. The handle must be washed by hand. A trip through the dishwasher would ruin the wood.
The wood for this handle came from a tree that was taken down from the neighbor behind me. I grabbed a few logs from the tree people when they took this tree down and this is one of the pieces I’ve made from this. The design of the handle is just to be comfy to use.
