Ice Cream Scoop with Silver Maple Wood Handle
Ice cream scoop with hand-turned Maple wood handle. The handle is approximately 6 inches long. The whole scoop is about 9 inches from base to tip. It’s finished with tung oil and a topcoat of durable enamel.
The stainless steel scoop unscrews from the handle for easy cleaning. The handle must be washed by hand. A trip through the dishwasher would ruin the wood.
This handle comes from a Silver Maple that used to be up the street from us. There was no way I could use all the wood from this tree, but I’ve tried to use some in pieces that you might find interesting. The handle is a simple straight design that shows some of the growth rings and a bit of where an ambrosia beetle went through the tree.
