Ice Cream Scoop with Bradford Pear Wood Handle
Ice cream scoop with hand-turned Bradford Pear wood handle. The handle is approximately 6 inches long. The whole scoop is about 9 inches from base to tip. It’s finished with tung oil and a topcoat of durable enamel.
The stainless steel scoop unscrews from the handle for easy cleaning. The handle must be washed by hand. A trip through the dishwasher would ruin the wood.
This handle comes from one of the numerous pesty Bradford Pear trees we have in our neighborhood. When big branches of these trees fall down, I try to put the some of the wood into a use thing. The handle pattern is a simple design that might be found on a traditional scoop with a relaxing grip.
