This kaleidoscope is turned from a piece of a black walnut wood from a tree that used to be in a friend’s back yard. The double diamond shape of this piece shows off both heart and sap woods and the transition between the two. The intermediate size of the growth rings indicates this tree had to somewhat fight for the light it needed to grow to full size.
It is approximately 2 5/8 inches tall. The wood is finished with tung oil and an enamel topcoat. The hardware is chromed for durability.
