Hand-turned lignum vitae wood Kaleidoscope
Kids of all ages find a kaleidoscope intriguing. Hold it up to the light and turn. The shapes and patterns in the view port are never the same!
This kaleidoscope is turned from a piece of a lignum vitae wood. This is a dense tropical wood known for its durability. The diamond shape that I gave this piece swirls and variations across the whole piece. The growth rings seemingly double back on themselves as they cross the center of the piece.
It is approximately 2 5/8 inches tall. The wood is finished with tung oil and an enamel topcoat. The hardware is chromed for durability.
