Hand-turned silver maple wood Kaleidoscope
Kids of all ages find a kaleidoscope intriguing. Hold it up to the light and turn. The shapes and patterns in the view port are never the same!
This kaleidoscope is turned from a chunk of a silver maple that used to be just up the street from us. The oblong shape shows the growth rings that show this tree grew very quickly and with little competition for light. (I do miss the tree, as it was fun to watch sway back and forth in storms in a very dramatic fashion.)
It is approximately 2 5/8 inches tall. The wood is finished with tung oil and an enamel topcoat. The hardware is chromed for durability.
