Highly figured maple salad bowl
Somehow I lucked into a number of highly figured maple blanks to make bowls out of. This salad bowl got lost where I store my finished things and I just recently found it. (that sounds awful, but when trying to keep things safe from kids and companion parrots, it can happen)
The bowl has a really cool flame pattern that plays with the light as you turn it. Every 90 degrees gives a different view and pattern.
I would not recommend submerging the bowl for longer than necessary as water and wood have this interesting relationship and I can’t predict what will happen. It is food safe and I’d expect you to need to clean this. Just rinse it out, no scrubby, and then quickly dry it. This is definitely not safe for the dish machine.
The bowl is about 2.75 inches tall and 10.75 inches across (at the top). The lip going around the outside is about 2 inches tall, so should hold a decent amount of salad…or fruit..or trinkets…or just look good on a table.
The bowl is finished with a multi-layer process of tung oil, shellac, lacquer, and enamel.
This would be shipped insured and very protected. (duh...like I’d want it to arrive at your side broken…that’d make me very sad because I have a lot of work in this piece and want you to enjoy the final piece as much as I enjoyed making it.)
