This is a something that Tanya makes and I couldn’t be prouder of. I don’t have the patience to do this (yet) and I think she’s one of just a handful of people who are making these. At least I don’t see many listed in the various market sites. Tanya learned this at our local woodworking school a number of years ago when our kids were very little. Over the years, she’s made several that have been given away as gifts. With a bit of encouragement from me, she is offering these to anyone who is willing to have something that is not very common (which seems in opposition to what we have in stores these days…where everything can be found at all times of day for really cheap prices and can be disposed of simply because it was cheap).
These take her about half a day to make from wood blank to roughed in bird. So these aren’t going to be in huge quantities in our inventory as she doesn’t always have time to do these with the other things we have going on in our lives.
This is exactly 1 piece of wood that has been skillfully and patiently carved into a bird shape with the wings looking like a slow motion camera has stopped things where you can see the wings in action. Each of the little fans is interlocked with each other to give the piece stability. (It is still very delicate)
This bird a bare wood finish. This hasn’t been hydro-dipped or had any other finishing treatments applied.
This bird does come with a simple black wire stand to display the bird.
Across the wings it’s about 4.5 inches
From beak to tail it’s about 4.5 inches
It’s roughly 1.5 inches tall.
We try out best to keep packaging down on all our products. This fan bird, however, will be packed in paper in a plastic clam shell and then shipped in an appropriate sized box. We really don’t want this bird damaged and would recommend that when this is not being displayed, that you keep it in this clamshell as well.
