The wood of the handle is from a piece of burl that I picked up from a local woodworker who was downsizing his shop. If I had a clue what this was, I’d tell you…but I think the burl looks really nice in this handle. The opener has gunmetal finish hardware and measures approximately 8 inches long. The wood has been finished with tung oil and a top coat of acrylic.
If you want your opener to remain in pristine condition, handle it nicely. This should not be tossed to the bottom of an ice filled cooler or skittered down the driveway— wood does damage and will do unpredictable things when submerged in water.
Clean with a damp cloth when necessary.
