Black Locust Wood lined Cocktail Shaker
This is a 16 ounce cocktail stainless steel inside, wood outside, cocktail shaker.
The wood exterior is from a species called Black Locust, which is VERY hard, and does not like to be hollowed out. The wood from these trees is sought after for being great fence materials as it’s very rot resistant. In theory, this wood fluoresces under uv lights. I’ve not been able to get a light that is strong enough to do this—but according to one of my wood books, that’s -supposed- to happen. The black locust tree that this came from used to be located in my neighbor’s back yard. I have made several items from the logs I could drag away before the tree people just chipped the whole thing up.
While mixing cocktails with this shaker, your hand should not get icy cold like the beverage you want to consume. Wood is heat resistant so only the top and cap will get cold.
The interior is a 16 oz stainless steel liner. The lines on the cap are supposed to be for measuring (I’ve never used that. yet). The slip fit top has a build in strainer. It is nearly 10 inches tall, and it is about 4 inches in diameter.
I finished this with tung oil, lacquer, and enamel. Wash by hand, not in the dishwasher (or in a 3 dip tank).
Ships via USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate.
