Laminated PlyWood beverage Tumbler, 20 Ounce Capacity

$70.99

This is a 20 ounce stainless steel lined, laminated stacked plywood cladded exterior, beverage container. The lid is slip-fit and clear (so you can see how much of your beverage remains). I also include a reusable metal straw (that is dishwasher safe). The main body is not dishwasher safe— it’s recommended you rinse out the inside in the sink and quickly hand dry the outside. Although this is finished with a multi-layer process, wood and water love each other and will do funny things when left to their own devices.

As I might mention in a few of my other listings, I’m not one to waste wood if I can avoid it. Plywood included. This tumbler is made from plywood scrap that’s been used in other projects and too big to simply toss. I cut the blank for this tumbler along the long grain of the plywood and then glued everything together. Although construction plywood doesn’t like to be turned, this configuration does make things easier. Unlike where I make a strata like ply configuration (and then swear at it while turning), this allows me to create patters in the plys. This particular tumbler has two “flames” working their way up the mug. Not exactly what I thought it was going to do, but I do like it. One thing about turning ply this way that always makes things interesting for me, when I get done sanding everything is smooth and completely uniform. Once the wood and glues cool off a whole different set of textures appear. No, I have no idea what it’s going to feel like until after the tung oil goes on and things cure and cool.

This will still be one of those mugs that will be completely different to everyone else’s same colored Stanley or yeti mugs.

As wood is thermally resistant, and the foaming polyurethane glue I use to keep everything in place is also an insulator, this beverage container will do a reasonable job in keeping hot things hot and cold things cold (without all the summertime sweating).

This mug is over 9 inches tall and 4 1/5 inches wide. I try to make my beverage containers available to fit most car cup holders. This is just a touch over 3 inches at the base.

Ships via USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate.
