I’ve owned this domain for a VERY long time now. Most of the time it’s used for email only.
The title is a great conversation starter. It came from when I was the technical lead for a prior employer to get their ERP software working. As I knew the nuts & bolts of how that thing worked, people were told to go ask “the cheesehead” (a nickname at the time). About the time that AskJeeves came online, one of my cohort suggested I get this domain…and the rest, as they say, is history.
I’ve moved away from being that technical.
I’ve moved away from being a loyal NFL Fan (although I do still cheer for the Packers).
I’ve moved away from accepting just the little bits that are handed to me.
I’ve moved away from sitting around and watching life go by.
I’ve become more than just another code monkey who knows how to work in just one package of software.
I’ve become someone who is finding there is more to life than sports on tv, at the local community center, or those where my children _could_ participate.
I’ve become an iconoclast who is intent on making a difference.
I’ve come to realize that my sense of curiosity has never diminished, like most corporate machines require. In fact, the more I learn the more I want to learn.
Thanks to my wife/partner/best-friend, I’ve continued to grown, explore, and push myself as hard as I want. I’ve also learned that I’m a horrid teacher…but that doesn’t exclude my want for others to try and do too. She’s really a big inspiration for the upcoming adventures I hope to share.
One of the things I’ve come to notice, there are a great number of people wandering the planet who’re more than happy to tell you their opinion. They get to use their domains, blogs, youtube channels, cable shows, to blather at you. I think it’s time I use this site to do the same. One of the major differences you’ll see here — you won’t get just my views on the planet/society/current events. Much of that I m not in a position to influence.
So in the vein of The Modern Rogue, The King of Random, Mike Boyd, Peter Brown, and Jim Wright —
I’m going to try to share — my woodworking, treats from the kitchen, what I’m drinking/brewing, what I’m making, where I’m riding, and whatever comes to mind. If I can do an activity, make a something, complete an objective, or learn something new — YOU– definitely can as well.
I’m not special.
I’m not super talented.
I’m no different than anyone else.
I have a strong sense that if more people tried to do more, be more, experiment with their surroundings, they’d understand what it takes to actually do –ANYTHING– Too many people, won’t try, are closed minded about expectations, think only experts should do that ‘thing’, and only want “perfect” when good enough will be WAY more satisfying to understand.
I’m not that person…I’m willing to try _more_
I don’t know where this will lead. But I’ll go anyways.
I don’t know if anyone will actually read this. But I’ll say it anyways
I don’t know what I don’t know about WordPress–yet. But I’ll figure it out.
I don’t have a clue of where to begin… But, I’ll start.
I don’t want to be another quiet, passive, uninformed, Idol American… So, I’ll weaponize my personality and bring everyone along for the journey.
Let’s get moving…
